I look up to the hills — where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
Psalm 121
As a church school we follow Christian values and we believe RE is an important part of learning, supporting children in a wide variety of situations. It helps to teach tolerance and respect for all and encourages treating others in a caring and considerate manner.
Our RE sessions take place weekly in all classes from Nursery to Year 6 and are a mixture of knowledge, enquiry and exploration to enable our pupils to think about the world we live in, consider different viewpoints and begin to ponder how their understanding can be applied within their own lives.
As directed by Carlisle Diocese, Christianity is the predominant religion chosen for our lessons (2/3rds). This also allows for other faiths to be investigated. As a school we have adopted the Carlisle Diocese scheme of work for our planning and supplement this with resources from Understanding Christianity and Discovery RE if appropriate.
