At Broughton CE Primary School, our knowledge-based History curriculum, linked to the CUSP model, is designed to encourage all children to become expert historians who will leave primary school with a broad and balanced knowledge of a range of periods in history. It inspires children to be inquisitive about the past, building on prior learning and making links between periods in history wherever possible. Children are encouraged to think like historians to become 'more expert' with each study and grow an ever broadening and coherent mental timeline. Our History curriculum strategically incorporates a range of blocks that revisit, elaborate and sophisticate key concepts, events, people and places. At Broughton CE Primary School, our intent, when teaching history, is to stimulate the children’s curiosity in order for them to develop their knowledge, skills and understanding.
